Sure France is famous for their brandies from Cognac and Armagnac, even Spain and Italy are well known by Brandy enthusiast, but have you ever tried German Brandy? Asbach is a classic; one of the most well respected German spirits producers, they?ve been distilling grape brandy since 1892. Founded by Hugo Asbach, the Asbach brand started with just two small stills. Passed down from generation to generation, the Asbach named received official trademarking in 1908. As years progressed Hugo?s sons worked to expand the distillery and its distribution. Now a household name, the distillery was awarded the prestigious title of ?World-Class Distillery? at the 2013 World Spirit Awards, a title only given to the world?s most respected producers. Made from high quality grapes, the Asbach Uralt is distilled twice before being aged in small, 300-liter Limousin Oak casks. The barrel aging process ranges from two to four years for their classic bottling. Flavorful and distinctive enough for sipping straight, yet versatile enough for cocktails. Try it in place of whisky in a Mint Julep or a Whiskey Smash ? delicious! Tasting Notes: A robust and heavily fruited brandy, Asbach Uralt shows a rich Bourbon-esque flavor profile with notes of dried fig, toffee, caramel, almond and apricot. Round and full on the palate, this incredibly satisfying brandy is a gem!
