What began with one man in a small apartment in LA has quickly become the hottest new item for many of the country?s best bartenders. Former bartender Kurt Charron has spent the last five years perfecting his flagship spirit ? Chareau. Initial, he set out to create an unaged brandy flavored with cucumber and classic gin botanicals, however his vision changed after tasting a cocktail utilizing Aloe Vera juice. Unlike anything he had tasted before, Charron set out to create an Aloe Vera liqueur. With a fully imagined concept, Charron partnered with Lance Winters, the Master Distiller for St. George Spirits out of San Francisco to make his dream a reality. The two experimented with a variety of ingredients to find the perfect complements for the sweet and floral flavors of aloe. Using the grape based eau d?vie as the base distillate, the pair incorporated cucumber, lemon peel, muskmelon and spearmint to highlight. Cutting the liqueur back to proof (25% ABV) with aloe vera juice after distillation, this unique liqueur is dry and refreshing. Chareau was officially launched in 2013. Its name pays tribute to Charron?s great grandparents, Arthur Emile Charron and Florence Marie Favreau. The couple were farmers who uprooted and moved his family to California. The Chareau name honors their memory, as well as paying homage to the rich agricultural community based in California. Today, Kurt Charron sources all of the ingredients that make Chareau from local farmers near his distillery in Camarillo, California. While it may sound a little ?off the beaten path?, the flavor of Chareau is universally appealing. Clean and refreshing, it is beautifully floral, vegetal and fruit driven all at once. With greener notes of cucumber and aloe intermingling with ripe melon tones, citrus zesty, and fragrant spearmint, it offers an almost relaxing, aromatherapy-like quality to any cocktail.
