Combier Description

Combier Liqueur d?Orange is the original formula of " triple sec " and made in the same way since the creation of the recipe in 1834. It is crafted from a blend of 3 different sweet and bitter oranges from the West Indies, and distilled 3 times (hence the triple name), along with sugar from sugar beets from Normandy and pure alcohol from Paris along with some secret spices from the Loire valley. It is 100% natural and does not use cheap bulk ethanol, artificial colorants, corn syrup, and chemical flavors like many (or most) of its competitors to produce some of those awful sweetened orange candy syrups that pass as triple sec , especially in this country. The Combier distillery is the oldest active distillery in the Loire Valley area. Designed by Gustav Eiffel is is using the same antique copper pot stills, which add complexity, nuance and depth to their products. There?s a very nice balance here between the bitter orange peel notes and the sweet undertones that carry this spirit forward with just a suggestion of spice to pull it all together. While Combier is designed perfectly to be a supporting player in cocktails, it also is exceptional on its own over ice. Tasting Note: Light orange peel on the nose. Rich mouthfeel that unfolds nicely into a slightly spicy bitter orange with an undercurrent of simple syrup. Combier is sweet without being overly sweet and finishes long with a nice, light orange flavor. Very well made triple sec that would shine in a margarita. Highly recommended!
