Denning's Point Distillery Description
For the third time this year we are featuring a spirit from Denning?s Point Distilling in Beacon, NY as our SOTW. To refresh, Susan and Karl Johnson renovated a 2,800-square-foot garage in one of Downtown Beacon?s repurposed factory buildings and turned it into a distillery. Keeping it all in New York, they source all of the grains and malt from the Hudson Valley and Finger Lakes for their products. Safe to say, we are smitten with this Hudson Valley Distillery and will feature their products for the foreseeable future, starting with their newest vodka, Maid in the Meadow. Maid of the Meadow is a true reflection of the abundance of the Hudson Valley! Wild herbs and wild honey infuse this wheat based spirit, lending it a lovely nose of honey and peaches, and a palette of lemon balm, raspberry and roasted root. It?s a lovely spirit over ice or with a splash of dry sparkling wine. There is even suggested drink recipe that we tried and fell in love with: The Dragonfly 1/2 oz. Lemon Juice 2 oz. Maid of the Meadow 3 oz. Champagne Tasting Note: When you first try this, there is nothing ?vodka?y? about it. The herbal influence coupled with the honey demands such presence that you don?t get any of the alcohol characteristics sometimes associated with flavored vodkas. As mentioned above there is a defined white peach fruit note on the palate that is pleasant and not overwhelming. Delicate and delicious, this is infused vodka that you will never get bored of.
