Dos Maderas Description
Dos Maderas means ?Two Woods? in Spanish, and is named so because of how this wonderfully rich spirit was aged. The rum originates in the Caribbean (Guyana and Barbados), where it is aged in oak for five years before being shipped to Jerez, Spain for another five years of aging in wood barrels (three years in Palo Cortado casks, then two years in Pedro Ximenez casks). This results in an incredible smoothness and tremendous complexity of flavor unmatched in rums we?ve tasted to date. The heavy caramel rum aromas are lifted by sweet traces of sherry, with pecan nuts and vanilla, charred wood, dried fruit of raisins, figs, dates, plums and black cherries. The finish is slightly earthy and on the finish sugar cane meets old leather. The complexity of fine rum blended with sherry depth is stunning, delivering herbaceous and sweet flavors without being cloying, fruity and substantial, and some nutmeg and allspice to enhance the flavors. Dos Maderas P.X. 5+5 is the world?s only triple cask aged rum and delivers abundant complexity - on par with the world?s best spirits.
