Double Cross vodka serves two purposes; because it is so clean, light and crisp, it is really easy to sip it neat or straight up in a vodka martini, yet simultaneously its rich and complex taste stands up to mixing and is so pure it lets the quality of the mixers shine through, making it a perfect choice for the modern ingredient-driven cocktail craze. The company?s co-founders spent four years traveling across Europe looking for a very particular kind of boutique distillery before they found one ? in Slovakia. The country is also what inspired the name, derived from the unique double cross represented in the Slovak Coat of Arms. This tiny distillery is in the 13th century town of Stará ?ubov?a high in the Tatra Mountains. The water used for Double Cross comes from natural aquifers 200 feet below the surface and the other primary ingredient is 100% organic estate-grown winter wheat. It is distilled seven times and then filtered seven times, using different filtration methods. The bottle is also impressive looking, made from high-end French crystal, laser engraved with traditional Slovakian poetry on the back and the Double Cross logo on the front, and topped with a polished metal snap-on lid. This is one rare case where both the liquid and the bottle are equally delightful. What a great gift this would be! Arnold Palmer Inspired Cocktail 2 oz Double Cross Vodka ˝ oz of peach puree ˝ oz Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur 2 oz unsweetened iced tea Combine all ingredients in shaker with ice and shake well, strain into highball glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon slice and enjoy! Tasting Note: Soft vanilla notes on the nose. Lemon and spice on the palate with a silky mouthfeel. Super smooth with a clean, dry finish. A stand-out.
Wine Enthusiast: 95 Points
In its July issue, the influential Wine Enthusiast magazine awarded Double Cross with a 95-point "Superb/Highly Recommended" review, a rare distinction for a vodka. The review said Double Cross is "vibrant, laced with pepper and lemon zest," with a texture that is "creamy and full" that ends on a "silky, citrusy note."
