Gin Mare is produced in a small fishing village on the Costa Dorada in Spain just outside of Barcelona, using botanicals all sourced within the Mediterranean area. Alongside ?traditional? botanicals juniper, bitter orange peel, seville orange peel, lemon peel, cardamon, and coriander seed there are four that are not quite so common; Arbequina olives, basil, rosemary and thyme. All the botanicals except the citrus are macerated individually for 24-36hrs in neutral grain alcohol, before being distilled in a copper pot still, again individually. The three citrus botanicals are macerated as fresh peels in neutral grain alcohol for a whopping 300 days before distillation. It?s not until all the botanicals have been distilled individually that they finally get to meet one another in the blending process. This is a gin unlike anything we?ve had to date, and made us really excited! With a savvy brand team and distillers who?ve been making spirits for generations, Gin Mare will most definitely steadily grow and establish itself as one of the giants of the Spanish and International Gin scene. Highly recommended! Tasting Note: Gin Mare Mediterranean Gin does indeed taste "Mediterranean". Herbaceous aromas, with resinous juniper and thyme dominating on the nose, along with olives. More juniper with a burst of basil appear on the palate, and rosemary and thyme emerge as well as coriander. This is savory and different to other gins, making Gin Mare both authentic and original. When served with the right tonic, this will make for a delightful aperitivo!
