?tis the season for sipping rums and we have been searching high and low for stand-outs, and happy to announce we?ve found one at a medium price point that is destined to please everyone across the board. An award winning rum from Trinidad and Tobago's famed Angostura Company, this is a blend of spirits aged for at least eight years in bourbon barrels. The result is an incredibly delicious sipping rum that is perfect on its own, but will take your favorite cocktails to a heightened level. Angostura 1919 celebrates a very special date in the development of the rum industry in the Caribbean. After a fire in 1932 destroyed the Government Rum Bond, the master distiller J.B. Fernandes bought the charred casks only to find that they were filled in 1919. The Rum held within was skillfully blended and called '1919' Aged Rum. Exuding rich and engaging aromas of dark chocolate, espresso coffee and vanilla which is quickly followed by a soft palate of molasses and vanilla bean. The finish is astonishingly long in flavor exuding its inherent quality. This is the ultimate in smooth and soft sipping! Tasting Note: Rich and spiced with toasty oak, banana, vanilla and toffee on the nose. Creamy, smooth and sweet in the mouth with plenty of ginger, caramel and molasses. Round, warm finish all enveloped in butterscotch. A most satisfying sipping rum.
The texture of this golden rum is remarkable - velvety and feather-soft. Maturation in ex-Bourbon barrels creates sweet, rich caramel and root beer scents. The flavor is surprisingly subtle at first, but gives way to a long, rolling finish with honey and bitter chocolate notes. Striking, gift-worthy bottle.
