Tasting Note: That's the stuff, isn't it? In the right hands, Shiraz from Australia is just pure pleasure: A richly balanced quaff of dark berries and plums leaving a trail of warm spice and a vanilla scent of oak. There's plenty of Shiraz (which is how you say "Syrah" in Oz) that will overindex on one of these notes, but the Auld family strikes the right chord. Jock and Sam Auld trace their family wine legacy back to 1842, and Aulds have been in the upper echelons of Australian wine for generations. Pair with meats of course, but Shiraz is also a great choice with sharp cheddar, camembert or blue cheese. Meaty spicy aromas of dried herbs, black pepper & plenty of cherry fruit on the nose. Bold and powerful with bright red and black fruits, spicy pepper and structural tannins on the palate.
